How To Treat Dandruff At Home?

Dandruff has always been a problem for everyone. This persistent appearance of dandruff is the most embarrassing thing that could happen when fully dressed up. And, not to forget the itchiness it causes, followed by a cascade of flakes of scalp falling.

Dandruff should not be given the least consideration. It is a medical problem that has spread across almost half of the adult population in the world, with no difference among gender, race and age and it gives the aura of dandruff removal is much more difficult.

What is Dandruff?

These are the small, dead pieces of skin in a person’s hair. Its characteristic feature is dry, white flakes, that can be brushed off your collar or shoulders. It is caused by a prevalent fungus called Malassezia, that lives on the healthy scalp of adults.

Use Coconut oil: 

Coconut oil has a multitude of benefits, among which is its natural remedy for dandruff removal. Application of coconut oil improves the skin hydration and prevents dryness, thereby preventing multiplication of the fungus on the scalp with its antimicrobialantimicrobial properties.

Massaging your hair periodically at a regular time interval with coconut oil shows a better response.

Using garlic:

Garlic is an excellent, natural home remedy for dandruff. Garlic is a good source of allicin that helps in dandruff removal with its antifungal properties, and it makes the elimination of the dangerous microbes that are responsible for causing dandruff.

Applying Neem

Nothing can be easier than applying neem juice for dandruff removal as it is readily available everywhere. It has multiple medicinal properties, among which is its characteristic antifungal property that fights against the fungus that causes dandruff.

Crushing the neem leaves into a paste-like semi-solid form and applying onto skin for about 10 minutes itself is useful.

Adding Tea tree oil

It is one of the proven medicines that have powerful antimicrobial antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties and can reduce the symptoms of dandruff. It can effectively fight against the fungal strain when used along with regular coconut oil.

Adding one or two drops of tea tree oil to your shampoo before washing your hair seems useful in dandruff removal.

Adding Vinegar

Vinegar is also a form of acidic liquid, that is rich in potassium and enzymes with a caustic base. It possesses the medical properties which can aid in killing the dandruff fungus, paving the way for dandruff removal.

Trying Aspirin

Aspirin is one of the standard tablets, having salicylic acid as its primary compound. This salicylic acid has anti-inflammatory properties and can get rid of the scaly skin and the loosening flakes, thereby reducing the severity of dandruff.

So, for easy dandruff removal, crushing tablets of aspirin into your shampoo before a hair wash will be sufficient.

Trying Green tea

Green tea is commonly known today and has an enriched rush of antioxidants in it which can help in the shredding of the dandruff scalp from hair when applied. Its antiseptic and cleansing properties also help in treating an itchy scalp.

It is a much simpler process, which is the same as the real green tea making and applying that tea onto the hair, generally recommended for around 30 minutes before rinsing hair.

Intake of Omega-3

Omega-3 is a fatty acid that plays a vital role inside the body. They play a critical role in skin health by managing its oil production, hydration, healing and ageing. In the case of deficient omega-3 levels in the body, it can trigger the condition of dandruff in the scalp.

So, intake of the foods that are rich in omega-3 like salmon, trout and mackerel, fish oil supplement or flaxseed, chia seeds and walnuts are recommended for dandruff removal.

Trying Curd

Applying curd is a very effective treatment for dandruff removal. The moisture content in curd helps in moisturizing hair, repressing the dandruff growth. Moreover, its antibacterial agents reduce the irritation and itchiness of the scalp, providing significant relief.

Applying curd directly onto the hair and drying for an hour before taking a hair wash proves to be fruitful.

Applying egg yolk

Egg yolk that is the yellow part of the egg helps in dandruff removal as the vitamin biotin in the yolk fights against dandruff. It can also act as a natural conditioner to hair and make it healthier than before.

Covering hair with the egg yolk and covering with any plastic-like covers for an hour before hair wash is suggested.

Using Olive oil

Since dandruff is an accumulation on the hair cells, this light-weighted olive oil can easily penetrate the hair follicles and unclog dirt, excess fat thereby aiding in dandruff removal. It also nourishes the hair well and helps to reduce the irritation in the scalp.

Applying olive oil for 10 minutes before the hair wash is sufficed to get rid of dandruff.
